Michael Walker started Leasecorp in 1990 at the age of 28. He quickly became a specialist negotiating lease renewals, expansions and relocations for office tenants, developing cutting edge, analytical software that no other real estate firm was using. Before long he was handling multi-office leases for Fortune 500 companies. Overall, he has negotiated office leases valued at more than $300 million and handled multi-million dollar transactions in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Atlanta and Boston.
Regarded as an expert in all facets of office leasing including space utilization, construction review, and financial analysis, Mike has expanded Leasecorp into a full service operation that also offers design and construction management services. In August 2005, Leasecorp became the first and only Chicago tenant rep real estate firm to be registered as an official "Design / Architectural Firm," qualified to produce in-house space plans and construction drawings for clients.
Under his direction, Leasecorp has built a reputation based on its proprietary software (patent pending) and meticulous scrutinizing of lease details. As a result, clients get the exact space they need and save significant bottom line dollars.
Mike has completed all CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) core courses, including Financial Analysis for Commercial Investment, Lease vs. Buy Analysis and Sale Leaseback Analysis.
For the past ten years, Mike has been heavily involved with two not-for-profit organizations that help children in need. He served on the Board of Teen Living Programs, who provides assistance to homeless teenagers and helps them make the difficult transition back into society. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of La Rabida Children's Hospital, which provides assistance to chronically ill children who would otherwise not be able to afford treatment.
Mike is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, a two-time Ultimate Frisbee National Champion, an avid golfer and a wine enthusiast.
